TeaNovel and OpenNovel both offer AI-assisted novel reading, but a useful comparison starts with your source and preferred reading device. This page compares documented workflows; it does not rank translation quality or claim knowledge of OpenNovel's internal model, training, or terminology architecture.

What OpenNovel publicly describes

As checked on October 8, 2026, OpenNovel's official site advertises web reading, iOS and Android apps, and input through links, text, EPUB, or images. It also advertises name and terminology consistency. Those are the provider's feature descriptions, not independently measured accuracy results. Its getting-started guide describes adding a chapter link.

This replaces the earlier implication that OpenNovel lacks persistent terminology or genre handling. We do not have evidence to make that negative claim. Check the current plan, source support, and limits before using a particular input route.

TeaNovel's current workflow

TeaNovel provides a web reader and desktop extension. It does not have a native iOS or Android app. You can continue reading your private bookshelf on the mobile website, but a new supported-site capture requires the desktop extension. Pro accounts can separately upload a supported text EPUB.

The extension supports JJWXC, Qidian, QDMM, Fanqie, Qimao, Zongheng, and SFACG free chapters. Login, paid access, CAPTCHA, and complete source recovery still matter; a supported platform is not a promise that every chapter can be imported.

See the extension guide and reader guide.

Terminology and quality

NoveLM supplies per-novel terminology and recognized genre instructions to translation. Readers can inspect the terminology list, but cannot manually edit it. Quality evaluation and feedback can help expose mistakes; a high score is not a guarantee, and a chapter can be unscored.

Evaluate either service on a small sample you can lawfully access. Check omitted text, names, pronouns, address terms, and later-chapter continuity before committing to a longer project. No quality leaderboard is established here. The terminology guide describes TeaNovel's approach.

Costs and offline reading

TeaNovel Free includes 1,000 credits per month. Starter and Pro provide batch translation and Translate All; Pro also provides text EPUB upload and TXT/EPUB export. Chinese translation costs 1 credit per 100 source characters, rounded up per chapter, with a minimum of 1 credit. See pricing.

Exports contain completed translations and are snapshots of progress. Importing and parsing an EPUB do not spend translation credits; select a chapter range and review its estimate before confirming. Check OpenNovel's live plan and export options directly rather than assuming the same credit model or feature gates.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which tool has better translation quality?

This page does not establish a winner. Compare real samples using the same criteria, and do not infer accuracy from feature descriptions or provider testimonials.

Does TeaNovel have native mobile apps?

No native mobile app is provided in the current repository. TeaNovel supports mobile web reading; supported-site capture uses the desktop extension.

Does OpenNovel have no terminology memory?

We cannot substantiate that claim. Its official site advertises terminology consistency, so this page does not assert that it is stateless.

Are TeaNovel novels public?

No. Imported books, chapters, translations, and reading history are private to your account. Public Blog and Docs are separate from user bookshelves.
