September 21, 2026 — Extension 2.5.10: Background Tab Cleanup

Extension 2.5.10 improves cleanup of the temporary background source tabs TeaNovel opens to prepare chapters for translation.

🛠 Fixes

• Retry closing temporary tabs. If a temporary source tab cannot be closed, the extension now keeps track of it and retries cleanup instead of losing track of the tab.
• More reliable tab tracking. Improved tracking during concurrent chapter preparation and extension background-worker restarts — when Chrome stops and later resumes the extension's background process.
• Keep source-site verification available. Tabs handed to you for source-site verification, such as a CAPTCHA, stay open so you can complete it.
• No new browser permissions. This update does not request additional browser permissions.

These fixes require extension 2.5.10; updating the website alone does not update an already installed extension. Chrome Web Store availability may follow the website release while review and rollout complete. See Use Extension.

Cleanup retries depend on Chrome's background scheduling, so there is no fixed cleanup deadline. Older leftover tabs whose tracking was already lost are not automatically identified by this update and can be closed manually.

September 20, 2026 — EPUB Import and Product Improvements

Translate All is live for Starter and Pro readers. Pro readers can also upload their own EPUB books, translate selected chapters, and export the results for offline reading.

✨ New Features

• Upload your own EPUB novels (Pro). Import books you own as EPUB files — up to 20 MiB per file, 5,000 chapters, and 10 million source characters per book. Choose the chapters to translate and confirm their credit estimate separately; uploading and parsing do not spend translation credits. TeaNovel parses the table of contents, extracts the cover, and translates the book's title, author, synopsis, and tags automatically. Uploaded novels appear in your bookshelf immediately and stay private to your account. See Upload EPUB.
• Richer exports (Pro). TXT and EPUB exports include the translated title, author, synopsis, and tags, and the EPUB embeds the book's cover where available. Exports always reflect the chapters you have translated so far. See Export TXT/EPUB.

🛠 Improvements

• More reliable site imports. Improved chapter recovery, catalog handling, and navigation across supported sites. TeaNovel supports JJWXC, Qidian, QDMM, Fanqie, Qimao, Zongheng, and SFACG (free chapters only). Keep your browser extension up to date — see Use Extension.
• A simpler reader. Start whole-book or chapter-range translation from Translate All on the book page; the extra range-translation shortcut has been removed from the reader.
• Clearer plan and feature guides. Batch translation and Translate All are available on Starter and Pro; EPUB upload and TXT/EPUB export are Pro features. Terminology guides now clearly describe automatic consistency and read-only browsing, without promising manual glossary editing. See Plans & Limits and Terminology Basics.

🔒 Privacy

• Uploaded novels are private. EPUB files you upload are stored per-account, never shared or publicly indexed, and can be deleted after active translation has stopped and settled. Deletion removes the file, its source text, translations, glossary, and reading history; credits already spent are not refunded.

September 14, 2026 — Translate All

✨ New Features

• Translate All (Starter and Pro). Queue an entire novel from the book page in one click: choose all remaining chapters or a custom range, review the real credit estimate, and confirm. A durable progress card tracks the run, and chapters become readable as each one completes. See Batch & Translate All.
• Pause, Continue, and Cancel. Long-running runs pause safely at source blockers (login, CAPTCHA, paywall) and resume from the same point. Progress survives browser and extension restarts, and retries never double-charge.
• Unified translation history workspace for import and batch runs.

🛠 Fixes

• Duplicate catalog entries in novel details fixed — Qidian and QDMM editions of the same book now merge into one entry.
• Large site catalogs supported — whole-book imports from site catalogs are no longer capped at 500 chapters.

September 2026 — Translation Reliability

✨ New Features

• Durable background translation. Translation runs on the server, not in your browser tab. Close the tab, refresh, or reconnect — progress resumes and finished paragraphs replay without re-translating.
• Instant reader sessions. Clicking translate opens the reader immediately instead of waiting for source-site preparation to finish.
• Faster first translation on font-obfuscated sites (Qidian, JJWXC, Fanqie) with improved font decoding and OCR recovery.
• Automatic quality retries. Chapters that fail quality checks are automatically retranslated at the platform's cost — those automatic retries do not add a second user charge.

🛠 Fixes

• English output validation. Half-translated or garbled output is rejected before publishing; failed chapters are not charged.
• Credits reliability. Exactly-once charging and refunds; recovery for stalled credit reservations improved.
• Email sign-in repaired — verification codes now send and verify reliably, with clearer rate-limit and error messages.
• Reader: session recovery after refresh, corrupt cached chapters handled gracefully, and single-tab translation (no second waiting tab).

May 16, 2026 — Seven Supported Platforms

🌐 Platform Support

• Three new platforms: Qimao (七猫中文网), Zongheng (纵横中文网, including the Huayu women's channel), and SFACG (SF轻小说 — free chapters only). They join JJWXC, Qidian, QDMM, and Fanqie, bringing TeaNovel to seven supported platforms.
• Qidian font-obfuscation decoding — obfuscated chapter text now decodes correctly (extension 2.4.0+).

• Reading progress sync. Your reading position now syncs across devices automatically. Pick up where you left off on any device.

📖 Reader

• Customizable reading experience. Adjust font size (14-28px), line height (1.4-2.3), content width (560-920px), and theme (light/dark/system).
• Rhythm mode setting. Reader preferences include a rhythm-mode setting alongside font size, line height, content width, and theme controls.

🌐 Platform Support

• JJWXC, Qidian, QDMM, and Fanqie support — Import novels from JJWXC (晋江文学城), Qidian (起点中文网), QDMM (起点女生网), and Fanqie (番茄小说).
• SmartImporter — Paste a novel or chapter URL to import automatically. The importer detects the site and content type.
• Chrome extension — Required for importing novels. Works with Chrome, Edge, Brave, and Arc.
