General
What is TeaNovel?
TeaNovel is an AI-powered platform for translating Chinese web novels into English. Import novels from supported platforms, upload your own EPUB files (Pro), translate chapters, and read them in a customizable reader.
Which source sites are supported?
Seven platforms: JJWXC (晋江文学城), Qidian (起点中文网), QDMM (起点女生网), Fanqie (番茄小说), Qimao (七猫中文网), Zongheng (纵横中文网), and SFACG (SF轻小说 — free chapters only). See Supported Platforms for details.
Can I translate my own EPUB files?
Yes, on the Pro plan. Upload an EPUB you own (up to 20 MiB) from your dashboard. After import, choose the next 50 untranslated chapters, a custom range, or the whole book, then review and confirm the credit budget. Uploading and parsing do not spend translation credits. Uploaded novels are private to your account. See Upload EPUB.
What languages does TeaNovel translate?
Currently, Chinese → English only.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. 1,000 credits per month, no credit card required. See Plans & Limits.
Translation
How long does a translation take?
Most chapters translate in as fast as 30 seconds with real-time streaming. See Streaming Translation.
How are credits consumed?
User-funded translation work reserves credits until the operation finishes. Successful work is charged; a failed operation releases its reservation. Closing the browser does not stop server-side work. Some requests can reuse an existing translation through a different operation path, so see the amount shown by the current batch or EPUB flow before confirming. See Credits Explained.
Can I retry a failed translation?
If a translation fails and the source chapter is still accessible, use the retry action shown in the reader. Failed work releases its reservation; a later successful user-funded attempt is charged. The reader does not currently offer manual re-translation of an already-saved successful chapter.
Does TeaNovel translate VIP or paid chapters?
TeaNovel can translate chapters you can legitimately access on the source site. For VIP or paid chapters, you must unlock them on the source platform first. TeaNovel does not bypass paywalls or distribute source content.
Reader
What can I customize in the reader?
Font size, line height, content width, and theme (light/dark/system). See Reading Modes.
How do I report a translation issue?
Use the feedback button to choose a category and add details. See Reader Basics.
Account & Billing
How do I sign up?
Email (a one-time verification code), Google, Discord, or Twitter/X at read.teanovel.com. See Account Settings.
Can I link multiple sign-in methods?
Yes. See OAuth Connections.
What payment methods are accepted?
Stripe — major credit and debit cards. See Plans & Limits.
Do unused credits roll over?
Monthly plan credits reset each billing cycle and do not roll over. Purchased Credit Pack credits never expire. See Credits Explained.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Settings → Subscription → Cancel. Your plan remains active until the end of the current billing period.
Extension
Do I need the browser extension?
Only for importing novels by URL from the supported source sites — it handles background content scraping. Pro users can upload their own EPUB files without the extension. See Use the Extension.
Which browsers are supported?
Chrome and Chromium-based browsers (Edge, Brave, Arc). See Use the Extension — Supported Browsers.
